Who we are

The Speech & Debate Union has been a major campus organization at Murray State for many, many years. Students of various backgrounds, interests, and majors rally around their love for competition, performance, and discourse.

The SDU has won HUNDREDS of awards, including dozens of State Championships and 2 National Titles in debate.

Murray State’s Speech and Debate Union is comprised of the competition travel team, scholarship recipients, and society captains. The organization travels throughout the year to various tournaments across the country, including state and national tournaments, averaging about 150 awards each year, ranking both in speech and debate on the national level.
